REPORT – Sunday January 29, the PS Bertrand Petit faces the RN Auguste Évrard, in the 8th district of Pas-de-Calais.

Drumbeats break the usual tranquility of this town in Pas-de-Calais. This Monday, January 23, the bakers demonstratein front of the sub-prefecture of Saint-Omer to denounce the explosion in the cost of electricity. Hidden in the small crowd of locals, the deputy PS leaving, Bertrand Petit, lingers, slips a word in passing. “Did you go hunting yesterday?”, he throws a tap on the shoulder to an old companion. The day before, he was not running after the game, as he is used to. This Sunday, the almost sixty-something had especially in his sights the polling stations of his constituency for the by-election legislative.

The various left-wing mayor of Saint-Martin-lez-Tatinghem finally arrived on January 22, clearly at the head of thepartial legislative election with 46.14% of the vote (+ 23.60 points compared to June) but with an abstention of 70.39%. “This is proof that the voters have not lost their minds” welcomes…
