After a loss in the first game of a series of three in the western part of the province, the North Shore skaters came back with a second consecutive victory on the road.

On a roll

Inspired by their 6-3 triumph over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Saturday, the crew members continued their momentum and quickly set the tone for the game by forging a 2-0 lead in the first 21 minutes of play.

Leading 3-1 in the third period, the visitors saw the enemy reduce the deficit to just one goal, but still managed to stop the threat.

“Beyond the two wins, it’s the overall reaction of the players that stands out the most. We’ll tell each other. We have been through more difficult times recently. The guys wanted to get out of it and they took the means to do so,” praised driver Jean-François Grégoire.

Collective effort

Without wanting to name an athlete in particular, the head coach insisted on the collective effort.

“The veterans set the tone and the youngsters followed suit. The esprit de corps made the difference. The team concept explains the reasons for our successes during this journey. »

Rookie Louis-Charles Plourde opened the scoring for the winners. Defender Émile Chouinard and rookie Julien Lanthier (winning goal) also eluded goalkeeper Mathys Fernandez.

Louis Robin and Mathis Cloutier, both on the power play, sounded the response against goalkeeper Olivier Ciarlo who delivered another solid performance in front of the Baie-Comois net.

The Drakkar’s special teams were another important element in the conquest with two goals scored in three power plays.

The Drakkar will return home and will play their next game at home on Thursday, when they receive a visit from the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.
