Snowy pileup in Michigan traps up to 100 vehicles
LANSING, Michigan— Up to 100 vehicles were involved in a mass pile-up on Interstate 96 in whiteout conditions, Michigan police said.
There have been reports of injuries that do not appear to be serious, police said on Twitter. Initial reports said 50 to 100 vehicles were in Saturday’s crash near Portland, a city more than 100 miles (over 161 kilometers) northwest of Detroit.
Officials released photos of cars backing up along icy roads after the crash and said part of the highway was closed.
