In a letter published by the online information site Factual this Tuesday, May 23, Samuel Paty’s sister, Mickaëlle Paty, requests a parliamentary inquiry, after the assassination of her brother, which occurred in October 2020 in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine . A request which will be “examined with attention”, according to the president of the senate, Gérard Larcher.

Almost three years after the tragedy, the relatives of Samuel Paty are fighting to bring to light the reasons for this assassination and to prevent such a tragedy from happening again in the future.

Mickaëlle Paty, the sister of Samuel Paty, published a letter to this effect this week. She wants to be able to “hold to account those responsible for mismanagement, mishandling of the threat to [son] brother and the resulting lack of foresight”.

She asks “the opening of a parliamentary inquiry in order to establish the flaws in this tragedy and to try to plug the breaches”.

The President on Senate, Gerard Larcher, has also supported this request. The politician (LR) underlines that Samuel Paty has “contributed his share, more than his share since he gave his life for educational principles”. His family and “a number of his colleagues (…) deserve that we examine this request with attention, a desire for justice and at the same time, a form of respectful empathy”, he added on CNEWS.

The final decision rests with the Senate Law Commission, which should decide on this subject in the coming weeks.
