The Ukrainian army admitted on Wednesday that it had ceded the city of Soledar to the Russians (here in June 2022), two weeks after the announcement of its capture by Moscow.
UKRAINE – The Ukrainian army admitted on Wednesday January 25 that it had ceded the town of Soledar, in the east of the country, to the Russians. two weeks after the announcement of its capture by Moscow.
“After months of hard fighting […]them ukrainian armed forces left her” to “to withdraw to prepared positions”told AFP the military spokesman for the eastern zone Serguiï Tcherevaty, refusing however to specify when this retreat took place.
By mid-January, the small town was at the center of a fierce battle and Moscow had claimed its capture. The governor of the Donetsk region, Pavlo Kyrylenko, however, denied, assuring that Soledar was “under the control of the Ukrainian authorities”.
