A serving police officer has been charged with two counts of rape.
Pc Ravi Canhye of Dorset Police is believed to have committed the offenses while off duty early last year.
The 46-year-old was charged with a total of eight sexual offences, including the two rapes, against two women.
He was charged on January 24 and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday to face the charges.
Dorset Police said: “The charges relate to offenses against two women committed while Ravi Canhye was off duty at the start of 2022.
“Ravi Canhye was immediately suspended when the allegations were made and has remained suspended throughout the investigation. »
The force added: “The matter has been subject to a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct who have decided that it should be investigated locally by Dorset Police.
“We understand that accusations of this nature will rightly cause concern within our communities.
“However, due to ongoing legal proceedings, we are unable to comment further on this matter at this time. »
