The almost sudden death of the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, on January 20, 2023, has just made his Secretary of State, acting Minister. According to a correspondence that the Minister, Secretary General of the Prime Minister’s Office addresses to the Minister of State, Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Bello Bouba Máigari (N°2 of the government), Fuh Calistus is appointed Minister of Mines, Acting Industry and Technology Development.
“The Prime Minister, Head of Government, instructs me to inform you that the President of the Republic has appointed the Secretary of State to the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, Mr. Calistus Gentry, to ensure the continuity of service at the head of this ministerial department on an interim basis, ”wrote Séraphin Magloire Fouda to Bello Bouba Máigari.
Fuh Calistus has been Secretary of State for Mines for 15 years (September 2007). He holds a PhD in mining from the University of London (England). His appointment is important for a ministry that has three major mining projects, according to the Head of State’s address to the Nation on December 31. These are the Mbalam – Nabeba iron mining project, those of Kribi – Lobé and Bipindi – Grand Zambi
