Chelsea star Jadon Sancho's tattoos have been blurred on EA FC 25.
Detail-oriented gamers have pointed out that EA FC 25, formerly known as FIFA, doesn't faithfully recreate all of Sancho's tattoos. In particular, his right arm sleeve – featuring beloved animated characters such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario, Spiderman and Bart Simpson – has been modified.
While the overall shape and placement of the sleeve remains intact, the iconic characters have been removed from the digital version and replaced with solid black ink to maintain the visual appearance of a tattoo. The reason behind this change lies in copyright restrictions. EA Sports, despite its efforts to create realistic depictions of players, does not own the rights to feature the popular characters that adorn Sancho's sleeve. As a result, the game's developers had no choice but to make changes to the Chelsea winger's appearance in the game.
Sancho has his tattoos stolen
This isn't the first time Sancho has had his tattoos stolen in a video game. In 2019, when the game was still called FIFA, Sancho expressed his displeasure that his tattoos had disappeared. “ My tattoo must be in the next FIFA game”, the star then remarked, calling for a more precise representation of her body art. He had also urged EA to tweak his hairstyle, noting that his distinctive cut was not faithfully reproduced in the FIFA 20 edition. Not all of Sancho's tattoos are homages to cartoon characters and stars video games. One of his most personal and poignant pieces is a tattoo dedicated to his younger brother, who died in his youth.
Sancho has made a strong start to his career at Chelsea, showing flashes of the talent that has made him one of the most sought-after players in Europe. The winger is expected to start in the Blues' next Europa Conference League group stage match against Belgian side La Gantoise on October 3.
