His adventure with the French selection barely over, Hervé Renard would have landed a new role within a national team.
Hervé Renard did not remain unemployed for long. Just a few days after completing his career at the helm of Les Bleues, the highly respected technician has already been able to find a place elsewhere. He will take charge of an African selection.
The double African champion coach would be the number 1 favorite to take charge of Nigeria. Contacts with the local federation date back several weeks already and discussions have reportedly accelerated recently.
Renard has revised its claims downwards
Nigeria have been without a coach since parting ways with George Finidi. The latter seriously compromised the team's chances of reaching the next World Cup, drawing two qualifiers in a row. He took over from José Peseiro after the last CAN.
Renard is very motivated by the idea of coaching new people on the black continent. Initially, he had been very demanding in terms of salary, asking for an annual salary of 2.16 million dollars. But he has since revised his expectations downwards, aware that he must make sacrifices if he wants to quickly find an interesting position.
