Paris 2024 Olympics: As the opening ceremony approaches, the decorations are revealed along the Seine

“Under the Mirabeau Bridge flows the Seine,” wrote Guillaume Apollinaire in his collection of poems “Alcools,” published in 1913. A century later, under the Mirabeau Bridge now stands a vast silver piano, erected on a strange black promontory, resembling dried lava.

Should we see this as a tribute that will be paid in music to the French poet on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games? Seven days before the grand launch, the installation, visible from the Parisian bridge, is in any case part of the first decorations that are beginning to blossom along the 6 km route and its 12 scenes, from the Pont d’Austerlitz (13th) to the Trocadéro (16th).
