100 out of 100 in mathematics, 93.5 out of 100 in French, 45 out of 50 in history-geography… Maryam Houssin, a third-year student at the Saint-Exupéry college in Lons-le-Saunier, flew through the brevet exams to the point of breaking the counters. She even managed to obtain more than the maximum points by obtaining a mark of 802.5 out of 800.
400 out of 400 in continuous assessment
The young girl already had her diploma in her pocket before the end-of-year exams even began. By rewarding her with a 400 out of 400 in continuous assessment, her teachers gave her the minimum points needed to obtain the certificate. And that’s not all: thanks to her 20 out of 20 in ancient Greek, she gained the 20 additional points awarded for the options.
“That was my goal”
All she had to do was perform well in the national exams, and that’s what she did, scoring 382.5 points out of 400. Let’s do the math again: by adding her 420 points in continuous assessment and the 382.5 points in the final exams, we arrive at 802.5 out of 800.
“That was my goal from the beginning of the year,” Maryam explains. “I wanted to try to aim as high as possible. I want to be sure to have a job later. Childhood doesn’t last many years, so I’d rather struggle now than later.”
Future veterinarian
Her father, a retired woodworker, and her mother, a former school principal in Morocco who is now a childminder, emphasize their daughter’s independence. In addition to her classes, Maryam does aikido, rhythmic gymnastics and plays the harp at the conservatory. She wants to become a veterinarian.
23 students obtained more than 800 points
Like Maryam, there are a total of 23 students in the Besançon academy who have obtained a total of points greater than 800. Another is from the same establishment as her, the Saint-Exupéry college in Lons.
