A decisive day
This Thursday afternoon, the election of the President of the Assembly takes place. Who will be elected, when neither the left, nor the former presidential bloc, nor the right, nor the extreme right have a majority? The battle is very open.
The outcome will be decisive on two counts: on the one hand, Emmanuel Macron was waiting to see the balance of power in the chamber – and for the left to tear itself apart -, on the other hand, negotiations between allies of the New Popular Front have been at a standstill since Monday.
Communists, environmentalists, but especially socialists and Insoumis cannot agree on a potential Prime Minister to propose for Matignon. The designation of the communist André Chassaigne, a figure in the Assembly, as the sole NFP candidate for the Perchoir, has certainly simplified the equation.
