A red alert from the weather services concerns a large part of southern Europe.
While part of Western Europe is slowly entering summer, Southern Europe and the Balkans are crushed by the heat.
This Thursday, Greece is expected to experience the hottest day of a heatwave that has been going on for ten days.
In Athens, temperatures are expected to reach 43 degrees in the shade. The city has therefore decided to close the Acropolis in the afternoon, as the risk to the many tourists present at this time of year is too great.
“The heat is incredible. Simply. Yes. You have to stay hydrated, drink, and with a little luck, you can survive in these climatic conditions.” says an American tourist.
Similar conditions at least until early next week
No improvement is expected in the coming days and the weather services have therefore maintained a red alert to warn the population of the dangers of this extreme heat. This alert also concerns thereHungary, Serbia and Croatia.

For a month in Bucharest, the thermometer has never dropped below 30 degrees in the middle of the day.
In the coming days, conditions are expected to get even worse in the capital and the rest of Romania, with a peak expected at 42°.
