Paris 2024: French footballers end their Olympic preparation with a draw against Japan

Thierry Henry’s French Olympic team, despite clearly dominating, was held to a draw by its Japanese counterpart (1-1) on Wednesday evening in Toulon for its last preparation match before the Paris Olympics.

Japan opened the scoring through Joel Fujita, served by Shunsuke Mito after Manu Koné lost the ball (25e).

The Blues equalized through Michael Olise, a future Bayern Munich player, with a curling left-footed shot from outside the area, after a header from Alexandre Lacazette (47e).

See you next Wednesday against the United States in Marseille

The French had won their first two friendlies, against Paraguay (4-1) on July 4 in Bayonne, then the Dominican Republic (7-0), a week later in Toulon.

They will open the Games against the United States next Wednesday in Marseille. Guinea and New Zealand will be their two other opponents in Group A of the Olympic tournament.
