While the president of the Republican Right group, Laurent Wauquiez, proposed a “legislative pact” without participation in the government, viewed favorably by the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, Gabriel Attal reiterated that he wanted to “work with people from the Republican right” as much as with “people from the social-democratic left.”
On the left, the New Popular Front is on the verge of breaking up, since LFI abandoned discussions for the composition of a government within the left-wing coalition. Manuel Bompard, the party’s coordinator, indicated on Tuesday that they could resume after the election of the presidency of the National Assembly on Thursday.
