Gendarmerie Operation: Dismantling of Criminal Motorcycle Network

The populations of the Far North region have almost lost sleep in recent days due to the motorcycle attacks that have become commonplace, not to mention home attacks and armed robberies. Several motorcycle taxi drivers have been killed as a result of these attacks and have had their motorcycles stolen. Lawless individuals wanted to show that they are above the law.

Several complaints have been filed by the victims with the defense and security forces.

Following this, in collaboration with the population, the Far North Gendarmerie Legion was informed of the existence of a network of theft, cannibalization and sale of motorcycles in the city of Maroua, as well as in the areas of Mokolo and Mora, for the benefit of terrorists.

Elements of the Far North Gendarmerie Legion, under the leadership of Colonel Joseph Désiré Nguelé, commander of the Legion, intervened on the ground.

An immediate cordoning off of the place allowed the elements of the gendarmerie legion to apprehend the gang leader, Abdoulaziz Hayatou, who is also the brains of the network. Seven motorcycles were found in his possession, as well as an arsenal of motorcycle spare parts sold on different markets without leaving a trace. The vests of the motorcycle taxi drivers, whom they usually assassinate before stealing their engines, were abandoned in a bloodbath.

The forceful raid by elements of the gendarmerie legion put an end to the actions of the criminals who already believed themselves to be stronger.

Unfortunately, the other criminals involved in these criminal activities were absent and escaped the gendarmerie’s net. Investigations have been opened, and the authorities are using the information provided by the mastermind of the group to track down the other criminals who have disappeared into thin air.
