An Alsatian was arrested and taken into custody this Wednesday morning in Bas-Rhin by agents of the anti-terrorist sub-directorate of the judicial police (Sdat), according to a source close to the investigation, confirming information from the Parisian.
This young man, aged 18 and belonging to the neo-Nazi movement, is said to have planned violent actions during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. He is currently being questioned by the police under police custody, suspected of having made threats on a Telegram channel called “French Aryan Division”, of which he was an administrator.
A drag queen as a target?
According to The Parisianhe had notably threatened on this loop to attack the drag queen Minima Gesté during the Olympic torch relay, whose designation as torchbearer in Paris had sparked homophobic comments.
According to the daily, the Telegram channel called “French Aryan Division” is an offshoot of the far-right group “FRDETER”, whose members also exchanged racist remarks and calls for violence on this secure messaging service. The Minister of the Interior had requested the closure of these Telegram loops in April 2023 and an investigation had been opened by the Paris prosecutor’s office for “apology for terrorism, death threats or other crimes, incitement to hatred or violence in particular”.
