Decarbonization of companies: the too weak efforts of heavy industry

Are the companies that emit the most greenhouse gases really making the efforts promised to reduce their environmental footprint? According to the report published this Tuesday by Réseau action climat (RAC), an associative federation that brings together 27 environmental protection organizations, we are very far from the mark.

“Our findings are unfortunately the same as those of last year when the very first report on the subject was published,” regrets Aurélie Brunstein, Head of Industry at the RAC and co-author of the report. “We expected a lot from the government’s planning sequence in recent months, particularly in terms of the accountability of companies that will receive a lot of public aid. Ultimately, we are disappointed and concerned by the lack of transparency and information available on the roadmaps for commitment to decarbonization of these industries that only want marginal changes without questioning their business model.”
