The Cameroon Football Federation (Fécafoot) is actively preparing for the 2024-2025 season with innovative initiatives to enhance the image of Cameroonian football. By publishing the marketing charter for the upcoming season, the umbrella body is working to promote the Elite championships.
One of the key measures of this charter is the harmonization of the clothing of the technical staff of the clubs. Aware of the importance of professional appearance, Fécafoot, under the executive of Samuel Eto’o Fils, now requires that coaches and staff members wear jackets and official equipment of the clubs on the bench. This initiative aims to eliminate the often observed clothing inconsistencies, where coaches appeared in European club jerseys, sometimes provoking hilarity from the public.
Idriss Onana Onana, a fervent supporter of Canon de Yaoundé, shares his point of view: “ I read the charter published by Fécafoot. I think that if we want to promote our football, we must focus on these small points. We saw coaches here wearing European club jerseys to sit on the bench in Cameroon. Sometimes, the clothing made the public laugh. Coaches must take themselves seriously. On this point, I agree with Fécafoot. The federation could have opened up the style of clothing. What will those who do not like the jacket do, for example? What about our local or African outfits? This is a point to review in my opinion. »
To ensure compliance with these new provisions, FECAFOOT is planning financial sanctions for coaches and clubs that do not comply with the clothing requirements. This measure aims to promote a more professional and coherent image of Cameroonian football on the national and international scene.
By organizing the General Assemblies this month and publishing this charter, Fécafoot demonstrates its determination to transform and modernize Cameroonian football. These efforts to promote the Elite championships, improve the image of the teams and strengthen professionalism are encouraging signs for a promising 2024-2025 season.
With such initiatives, Fécafoot hopes to inspire confidence and respect, while enhancing the reputation of Cameroonian football. Fans, clubs and national football stakeholders are eagerly awaiting to see these changes materialize on the pitch.
