England and Spain faced each other this Sunday evening in the final of Euro 2024. And the Spanish won 2-1.
At the end of a generally disappointing Euro, Spain, who notably beat Les Bleus in the semi-final and were the team that showed the most certain playing style throughout the competition, won against England this Sunday in the final, winning a new continental trophy.
Masters of the exchanges during the first act, Spain were not killer enough to deceive the English who were tenacious during the first 45 minutes. The Three Lions even had a few opportunities, Phil Foden almost opened the score just before the break.
But the situation was going to change just after the break. Yamal was fed around the opponent’s rectangle, he found his friend Williams at the far post, very alone, who opened the scoring with his left foot. But 20 minutes from the end, while La Roja was close to breaking the deadlock, Saka found Bellingham at the penalty spot. The latter managed to serve Cole Palmer back, who got everything going again. But 5 minutes from the end Spain were going to take back the lead. Oyarzabal got ahead of Guéhi and beat Pickford from close range with his right foot.
2-1, final score. Spain wins the fourth Euro in its history, at the expense of England who loses in the final as in 2020.
