Ukrainian volunteers risk their lives near the front line to save pets abandoned by their owners who have had to flee the war.

They recently carried out an operation in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine, where they saved around sixty dogs and cats.

They now hope to find them a family.

“We hope that there will be kind and good people who can take care of the dog that was rescued, says Anna Dmitrieva, head of a shelter. He is a very active dog, a good companion dog. People risked their own lives to save this dog.”

This shelter currently houses over 250 animals, but there is not enough room for everyone.
