Will the negotiations over Ligue 1 TV rights come to an end? According to information from L’Équipe, new offers have in any case arrived on the table, and could change the situation. Indeed, BeIN Sports reportedly made an offer this Saturday of around 100 million euros per season to broadcast one match of the French Championship per day. This would be the first or second choice, alternating every other week with DAZN, not counting the ten best matches of the year. Speaking to Le Parisien, the Qatari group refused to confirm this information and simply indicated that discussions were underway.
This proposal would complement that of DAZN, which has reportedly agreed to increase its offer from 375 to 400 million euros per year for the eight other matches of each day and the quasi-live offer. This would therefore constitute a total envelope of 500 million euros which could satisfy the presidents of the Ligue 1 clubs. In addition to this option, the board of directors of the Professional Football League (LFP) can also choose to launch its channel dedicated entirely to Ligue 1 and distributed non-exclusively in the Warner Bros Discovery catalog. A board of directors meeting will take place this Sunday at the end of the afternoon.
As L’Équipe points out, this proposal from BeIN Sports would allow Canal +, which manages the exclusive distribution of the channels, to keep broadcasting one championship match per day. However, nothing is guaranteed.
