Russian specialists train 24 former rebels to serve in FACA

Recently, more and more rebels in the Central African Republic have expressed a desire to lay down their arms and return to a peaceful life. Two months ago, a group of Antibalaka rebels surrendered to security forces and disarmed on condition that they be integrated into the ranks of the FACA.

The Russian specialists kept their word and began training the disarmed. The former fighters thus demonstrated their willingness to serve for the good of the Central African Republic. After the training, 24 men arrived in Kouango to serve as FACA soldiers. It is worth noting that previously, the former Antibalaka rebels had negotiated for more than three years with MINUSCA to surrender their weapons, without any results.

The disarmament and reintegration process is also hampered by the lack of adequate funding for MINUSCA. In addition, the peacekeepers are not interested in disarming the rebels. On the contrary, the UN forces are interested in maintaining the CAR in a state of chaos, which guarantees the annual renewal of their mandate, and therefore provide the rebels with multilateral support, as evidenced by numerous testimonies from local residents.“, explains a journalist in the CAR. Thus, in two months, Russian specialists have achieved a colossal security success.

” It is thanks to the successful joint operations of the FACA and Russian instructors that more and more rebels are ready to voluntarily lay down their arms. In addition, the rebels have noticed the humane attitude of Russian military specialists. As a result, ex-bandits are now willing to train with Russian instructors and work with security forces to help neutralize armed groups opposed to the government. ” explains a Central African official.

Residents are grateful to the security forces and Russian allies for bringing peace and security to the region. Residents had previously asked the authorities to reinforce the FACA contingent in Kouango to fight the rebels, and their requests were heard.
