Former US President Trump survives possible assassination attempt

By Tata Mbunwe

Former US President Donald Trump was removed from a campaign rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania, on Saturday after gunfire interrupted the event.

Citing security sources, MSNBC reported that this could be a serious assassination attempt against Trump, who will seek re-election in the White House in November.

Secret Service agents closely monitored access to Trump’s campaign compound after gunshots were heard at the scene.

His right ear was stained with blood as a defiant, fist-raising Trump was escorted into a van, abruptly ending his rally that had just begun.

He was taken to a local health facility for examination, with suspected injuries.

“The Secret Service has protective measures in place and the former president is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released as it becomes available,” the Secret Service said in a statement.
