Cristiano Ronaldo, it’s too much! The ultimate humiliation

Cristiano Ronaldo has been named in Marca’s worst XI for Euro 2024 following Portugal’s early exit from the competition.

Ronaldo is the only Portugal international to feature in Marca’s worst XI. The 39-year-old has made five appearances at Euro 2024 but has failed to score, although he has provided one assist. Arsenal and Liverpool stars Oleksandr Zinchenko and Dominik Szoboszlai are also in the squad.

The full XI: Livakovic (Croatia); Di Lorenzo (Italy), Mancini (Italy), Christensen (Denmark), Zinchenko (Ukraine); McGinn (Scotland), Milinkovic-Savic (Serbia), Szoboszlai (Hungary); Vlahovic (Serbia), Lukaku (Belgium), Ronaldo (Portugal).

No player has scored more goals than Ronaldo at the Euros (14). The football icon is well ahead of Michel Platini, who has scored nine times during his career with the French national team.

Ronaldo is enjoying a well-earned rest after a gruelling season for club and country. He is expected to return to Al-Nassr, where he hopes to lead the club to the Saudi Arabian league title. His future with Portugal is yet to be decided and he could still feature at the 2026 World Cup.
