A 43-year-old man, suspected of stabbing his own 42-year-old brother to death, was arrested and briefly taken into custody this Saturday afternoon in Bobigny (Seine-Saint-Denis), Le Parisien learned from a police source, confirming information revealed by the Actu17 website. He was then declared “incompatible with police custody. He was subject to compulsory hospitalization,” said Éric Mathais, public prosecutor. He was therefore admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
The incident allegedly occurred on the 5th floor of a building located a few steps from the prefecture. The origin of the dispute is not yet known, but the accused is said to suffer from schizophrenic disorders.
The tragedy unfolded around 1:15 p.m. on Rue du Chemin-Vert in Bobigny. “A mother, worried about not having been able to get in touch with her youngest son, called her eldest son,” a police source said. “The latter then told her that he had just stabbed his brother four times after an altercation.”
Fearing the worst, because her son suffers from a psychiatric illness, she decides to go to the younger son’s home, on Rue du Chemin-Vert, and discovers him “lying in his blood on the ground and unconscious”, adds the same source. Very quickly, the police head towards the suspect’s home, which lives on Rue Jacques-Anquetil, just a few hundred meters from the crime scene.
Once the reinforcements arrived, the officers formed an assault column in order to intervene in the best conditions at the home of the potentially dangerous individual. Around 4 p.m., they used a “door raider” to break down the door.
Hands covered in blood
Having entered the apartment, the police quickly neutralize the man using their shield while his hands are covered in blood. A knife is also found hidden under his jacket. “It is probably the murder weapon,” says the public prosecutor. And above all, according to a police source, he immediately admitted to being the perpetrator and to being the victim’s brother.
The mother also said that both of her sons had a history of psychiatric illness.
The investigation was entrusted to the sub-directorate of the judicial police of the 93, departmental service of the PJ. The autopsy was to be carried out this Sunday.
