The former French international was sentenced to a one-year suspended sentence for abandoning his family. But he disputes the facts.
This time, Patrice Evra is less likely to venture onto social media and drop his “I love this game”. The matter is serious. For having abandoned his wife and his spouse, the former French international was sentenced by the Nanterre prosecutor’s office to twelve months in prison with a two-year suspended probationary sentence.
Patrice had been in a relationship with his campaign Sandra for 15 years, before leaving everything behind. Between 2021 and 2023, she hardly cared about her. For this, in addition to the prison sentence handed down against him, he must pay €4,000 for moral damages and €2,000 for legal costs. The plaintiff’s lawyers also claimed arrears of alimony amounting to €969,000.
Patrice Evra counterattacks
The former Manchester United and Juventus player immediately appealed this verdict. Because he disputes the facts. His version would be completely different. Me Jérome Bouriscan, his lawyer, spoke on the subject: “Mr. Patrice Evra filed an appeal, knowing that he had provided his wife with an apartment, a house with a swimming pool in the south of France and that he had lent her almost 2 million euros for her daily life. A sum that she refuses to repay.”
Note that Evra married a Danish model named Margaux Alexandra in 2021. He started dating a woman while he was still with Sandra. They had two children.
