Before Paris, Cesson-Sévigné. Thirteen days before its Olympic debut, against Hungary on Thursday, July 25 (7 p.m.), the French women’s handball team concludes its preparation for the Paris Olympics with a final test against Angola. Beaten by Norway (22-34) on July 4, which had deeply annoyed coach Olivier Krumbholz, the Bleues were able to react against these same opponents this Saturday, winning (25-19) at the end of a generally controlled match in Pau.
The course is now set for Angola, an opponent that the Tricolores will meet again during the preliminary phase of the Olympic tournament, on August 1st. A true reference of handball on its continent, with fifteen African champion titles, Angola constitutes a real physical challenge, likely to plunge the French even further towards their great Olympic objective, where they will have the heavy task of defending their property after the exceptional title of Tokyo 2021.
As a reminder, the official list of the French teams for the Games was revealed at the beginning of the week. On the women’s side, the main information is the selection of Cléopâtre Darleux, but as a substitute. The goalkeeper, long sidelined due to a concussion protocol, was up for grabs and the Bleues’ preparation camp in the Landes unfortunately did not tip the balance in her favor, to the detriment of Laura Glauser and Hatadou Sako.
The warm-up match between France and Angola will take place on Saturday, July 13 at 9:10 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on La Chaîne L’Équipe and BeIN Sports 3.
