At the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC), there is no great serenity. The party president, Professor Maurice Kamto and two other executives are the targets of a complaint filed at the Bafoussam gendarmerie, in the West region.
According to the latest news, it is Mr. Serge Simeon Noumba, economic operator and former activist of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) who is at the origin of the complaint against Maurice Kamto, Albert Dzongang and Me André Marie Tassa. With a group of activists, this former elected official of the party of the late John Fru Ndi accuses the leader of the MRC and two of his executives of organized fraud, spoliation, defamation and non-compliance with the 2013 agreements.
According to his account on RFI, Maurice Kamto would have entrusted him with the task of broadening the opposition party’s base in the Western region. The SDF defector also says he spent more than 80 million to accomplish this mission. But after being excluded with other activists, they are now demanding that these funds be returned to him.
The MRC says it is surprised by the approach.
Me Emmanuel Simh, Maurice Kamto’s lawyer and MRC executive, says he is surprised by the action of this activist who went to court when it is an internal party issue. On the facts, neither Maurice Kamto nor the MRC have yet reacted.
While traveling in Europe, the opponent did not respond to the summons of the gendarmerie. Albert Dzongang and Me André Marie Tassa were there, but were not listened to. For the time being, gray areas remain on this affair which will surface at the next presidential election of 2025, a poll in which Kamto is a candidate.
