Real Madrid and Spain defender Dani Carvajal opted for an all-Spanish trio when asked for his votes for the Ballon d’Or.
The 32-year-old defender failed to mention Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham, who are considered the best candidates in Spain.
Carvajal did not consider that Vinicius and Bellingham had done more than was necessary to be considered, but he did nominate himself, Manchester City midfielder Rodri Hernandez, and Joselu Mato. No mention of Lamine Yamal either…
Carvajal designates himself
These choices suggest that his response is somewhat ironic. It should be noted that Joselu is also Carvajal’s brother-in-law.
The Madrid defender, however, is not lacking in confidence and says he always keeps in mind that he is the best right-back in the world, and this season at least, he can claim that title.
