On 25, cours Suchet, in Lyon 2nd, will host this Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July, the firefighters’ ball. The theme: “fluo party”. The fire station, opened in 2010, has been organizing this event for eleven years, if we do not count the two years of health crisis.
An annual event that attracts more and more people each year. There were 3,000 last year. For the 2024 edition, Cyril Van Ginneken, communications manager for the Confluence firefighters association, expects “the same number of people as last year, or even more”.
An influx that can be explained by the attractiveness of the neighborhood and by the number of inhabitants, which is constantly increasing. For the firefighter, it is also thanks to a “better organization in terms of communication and logistics before this event.”
Funds needed for firefighters
The ball is also an opportunity to raise funds for the Confluence Firefighters Circle association. 80% of the money raised goes towards financing improvements to the daily lives of firefighters, such as adding a sofa to their break room.
The firefighters, who have been working for several months to organize these two evenings, are all volunteers. The entrance ticket costs 10 euros and includes a drink.
