This is the end of a case that has been going on since April. The Ronan Labar – Lucas Corvée pair has officially qualified for the Paris Olympic Games (July 26 – August 11). However, the French badminton players almost didn’t make it.
Although they had validated their ticket via their competition results, an error by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), which had forgotten to update their ranking, deprived them, for a time, of their Olympic dream.
17 teams in the Olympic tournament
They then took multiple steps to win their case. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) delivered its verdict on Monday, confirming their inclusion in the competition table. The International Olympic Committee then accepted the CAS request.
There will therefore be two French pairs at the Games with the brothers Christo and Toma Junior Popov, who had previously obtained the French quota. With now 17 teams entered, there will therefore be three groups of four teams and one of five teams.
