90 passengers stranded at Part-Dieu station

This Thursday evening, July 11, nearly 90 passengers were stuck at Part-Dieu station due to a cancelled train. Initially scheduled to depart at 9:20 p.m., the last train of the evening from Lyon to Valence reportedly suffered a “technical problem,” according to passenger reports.

Among them, Marie-Pierre deplores very poor communication from the rail service. “We were first told of a delay of 15 minutes, then of half an hour, before having no more information.”

No air conditioning, paid toilets

“Now it’s a question of finding us a bus or taxis,” she continues. “We remain in uncertainty and vagueness, it’s not possible.”

After several hours of waiting in a non-air-conditioned gallery of the station, where access to the toilets is subject to a charge, the crowd of passengers began to grow impatient.

“People are getting annoyed by the heat and the conditions in which we are gathered. The SNCF agents have dispersed us by destination, to possibly reserve taxis for us,” adds the exasperated passenger. “I hope we will soon have a way to get home.”

When contacted, the SNCF was unable to provide a response within the time limit on Thursday evening.
