Despite a fall in the fictitious start, the race did not have any twists and turns over the 183km of the 8th stage of this Tour de France won, in a sprint, by Biniam Girmay. The leaders of the general classification, including the yellow jersey Tadej Pogacar, were not trapped by the wet roads.
The first Frenchman, Guillaume Martin (Cofidis) remains in 24th place, 7′41″ behind the race leader.
The day was marked by the announcement of Mads Petersen’s withdrawal after his heavy fall during the 5th stage of the Tour.
