The French team holds its own! Thanks to their victory over Portugal this Friday evening in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, the Blues are in the semi-finals of this European championship.
The 2022 World Cup finalists are doing better than in 2021, when their journey ended prematurely in the round of 16 against Switzerland. As in 2016, the Tricolores are back in the last four. Here is the balance sheet of the double world champions in the semi-finals of the Euro.
The French team has qualified for the sixth time in its history for a semi-final of a European Nations Championship. The Blues’ record at this stage of the competition is fairly balanced with three wins and two losses.
The French have managed to reach the final 3 times in the 1984 editions (victories against Portugal), 2000 (victory against Portugal) and 2016 (victory against Germany). On the other hand, the Tricolores have lost twice at the gates of the final in 1960 (defeat against Yugoslavia) and in 1996 (defeat against the Czech Republic).
