Women’s football: Hegerberg not called up for Norway, Däbritz too short for the Olympics

Both operated on in April, on the knee and ankle respectively, Eugénie Le Sommer and Sara Däbritz were greatly missed by OL at the end of the season. The two players had also started a race against time to be fit for the Olympics. If the French international, called up in Hervé Renard’s pre-list, is still in the running, Sara Däbritz will be too short and has not been selected among the 18 German players. A small hope remains in case she is among the 4 reserves.

Ada Hegerberg, who played 10 minutes on May 25 in the Champions League final after her injury on March 9 against Fleury, is not qualified for the Olympics with Norway. But she was not called up for the last two Euro qualifying matches on July 12 and 16.

Dispersed training resumes on July 8

The two players will therefore be among the few internationals not to be selected when OL resumes training on Monday, July 8. But it is not yet known whether they are among the 14 players who would be expected for a very scattered return given the many international deadlines.
