Before the clash against France on Friday, Nuno Mendes, the Portuguese left-back, took advantage of his time at a press conference to put pressure on his Paris Saint-Germain teammates.
During this Euro 2024, the French team managed to reach the quarter-finals, where it is preparing to cross swords with Portugal. At the end of its four confrontations (Austria 1-0, Netherlands 0-0, Poland 1-1, Belgium 1-0), the Blues have shown a flagrant lack of realism.
Indeed, Didier Deschamps’ men have only found the back of the net three times, including two own goals and a penalty converted by Kylian Mbappé. However, Nuno Mendes, the Seleção’s left-back, does not intend to rely on this statistic to assess his next opponents.
“It will depend on them and us”

They have only scored three goals but are in the quarter-finals. You can expect anything from this team. They have good players who play in the best European teams, we will be ready for that. The goals of others are not really interesting, we are more focused on what we have to do.
Nuno Mendes will, however, hope that his club teammates at PSG, notably Bradley Barcola, Randal Kolo Muani, Ousmane Dembélé, and formerly Mbappé, will continue to sin in the final gesture.
“I don’t know why they don’t score goals, but it’s positive for us… After that, they are players who know how to score, both Mbappé and Dembélé, they like to look for the goal. Now it will depend on them and us, we will make sure that they don’t score,” warned the former Sporting player.
