French star Paul Pogba remains hopeful of having his heavy doping ban overturned.
Paul Pogba appreciated the support from fans as France beat Belgium at the Euros. The Juventus midfielder, who is currently serving a four-year ban, was a guest of the French Football Federation for the round of 16 tie.
Following this enchanted interlude, he spoke at length to Sky Italia. “I am very happy to hear the love of the people, I came to see the selection, I met fans and I really felt a great love, which made me very happy. I have not been on the pitch for a while and hearing people cheering me and singing my name makes me happy.”
Pogba has no plans to quit
About his own situation, Pogba confided: “If you don’t see one of my videos where I say to stop playing football, it’s because I’m still a footballer. I’m still here, positive, I have the opportunity to fight against what is an injustice for me. We’ll see, things will improve.”
La Pioche also denied that he was planning to hang up his boots:
“I don’t know if you saw the whole interview, they only put a part where I hadn’t even finished talking. I never said that Pogba didn’t exist anymore, Pogba is there. Until you saw me say that I stopped… Watch the video, after I said other things. I still feel like a footballer, I train and in those moments I have to be only positive. I spend a lot of time with my family, I see the children grow up. I don’t do what I love, football, but I really want to come back… A desire of Madonna, I feel like a child who wants to become a professional.”
Pogba then concluded: “According to the latest news, I am still a Juventus player and I think you have to talk to them. I have a contract, I haven’t been able to speak with the director or the coach yet, I think they are waiting for the call. Ask them the rest.”
