Sandra Paget has always been athletic and excelled in swimming when she took part in competitions at the Haut Jura nautical club in Morbier. After her baccalaureate, she chose to become a school teacher, because she always wanted to devote herself to teaching children. She currently teaches in the Paris region.
“I don’t believe it yet”
“To get my teaching diploma, I had to run a 1,500m and I gave it my all to run them as fast as possible,” she recalls. “Since then, I have developed a taste for running and I train regularly in the evenings after school. Of course, I also have a family life, I have two boys, the eldest often accompanies me on his bike, which motivates me more. I have already done races like the Paris marathon and once the Deauville marathon. Experiences not as prestigious as the Olympics.”
Several challenges
Sandra Paget registered on the Paris 2024 challenge website, which tracks the kilometres covered per week and offers challenges. Each challenge allows for a draw to participate in the Olympic Games and the athlete has obtained a bib. “I don’t believe it yet,” admits the woman who is already in full preparation: “Since the marathon takes place at night and on a new course, I absolutely have to be well prepared and have a balanced diet. My husband, a professional firefighter, comes with me when he can to help me. And I have a sports coach who prepares a training programme for me, because I have to go all the way.”
Sandra Paget already says she is “very proud to be taking part in the Paris Olympics marathon on August 10.”
