Lamine Yamal, one gesture too many?

Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams were spotted playing rock-paper-scissors during the game against Georgia.

Spain beat Georgia in the second half on Sunday night and are now set to face Germany in the quarter-finals on Friday. The two stars of the show were once again Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams, who were as brilliant on the pitch as they were off it.

The two danced together after Williams’ goal, and not just around defenders, on Sunday night, and at the end of the game they were spotted playing rock-paper-scissors. “You can see they’re my friends, and we were fighting over the water bottle, to see who got the first drink.”

“Lamine was unlucky in front of goal but he is a fantastic player. It will come to him, he doesn’t need to be rushed because he is very good. This week he will have to put up with me because he didn’t score, so I hope in the next game he will shut me down. We challenge each other in every game.

Lamine Yamal, for his part, told OK Diario that he had no doubts that he would score a goal in the next match. “It was very important to get to the quarter-finals. That was our goal. And we are ready for the next game. Nico Williams is going to be a bit boring after his game. I told him not to start because I am going to score in the next game.”

The two flying wingers have captured the imagination of the Spanish side and coach Luis de la Fuente has been brave enough to give the teenager a starting role despite having plenty of options available. The upcoming game against Germany will arguably be the biggest test for La Roja, with the Mannschaft capable of forcing Spain back into their own half.
