Inès Reg: the realization that pushed her to divorce

Last January, Inès Reg and her ex-husband Kevin Debonne announced their divorce. A difficult decision that did not prevent them from keeping a lot of affection for each other: “You and I have given a new definition to the word divorce. It’s loving each other without wanting to hurt each other. Respecting each other. Leaving each other to keep only the best. We loved each other. We don’t regret anything. It’s a magical memory. We end in the most beautiful way. Saying goodbye to the lovers we were, to the place where we said yes to each other”, they explained together.

Kevin Debonne was the opening act. Month after month, the boundaries of their relationship became blurred. “We toured for three years, he was my opening act, we were together 24 hours a day and as a result we were friends, colleagues, lovers, lovers, we were together all the time and everything. Except that over time, you see, you have several hats like lover, producer… And at a given moment, there are hats that you no longer wear because it’s not too fashionable , you keep your own cap. It was my buddy.”

Awareness

One day, Inès Reg realized that Kevin Debonne was no longer really her husband but her friend: “He was my crazy friend and sometimes he was even my colleague. So it was getting complicated. I didn’t want us to continueas I love him madly and he was my best friend, I was like: ‘Look at us, actually. We’re friends, we’re not lovers anymore. We’ve lost each other on things and that’s okay.’”

This awareness gave rise to an emotional but peaceful discussion: “It wasn’t done in pain, it wasn’t done in screams. In pain, a little, in truth, we cried but we managed to talk. I was the first to be surprised at how it went. I see us talking very calmly. And it ends where we hug each other and we cry together.” A story that proves how much the two former spouses managed to love each other until the end.
